The first time I felt Dusk arrive
was also the first time I went Trick or Treating.
It was my first Halloween.
And on that night
on my first Halloween
at my first Dusk
I learned
The Dead opened their eyes in dark tombs and in the blackness of their graves.
That Ghosts slid like mist down from Attics, up from basements and out of trees
and if you were in the right place, your face hidden behind a scary mask and you waited in the dying daylight with flashlight in one hand and a bag of candy in the other
you might see
A Witch fly across the moon
a Werewolf stalking a girl in a red hood
a Vampire in a cape waiting for you at the side of the road.
At the darkest part of Twilight
when a sleeping world woke up
I learned
that
Devilish little creatures
like me
come out to play.
Twilight Time
Words by Buck Ram.
Music by Morty Nevins, Al Nevins, and Artie Dunn
Heavenly shades of night are falling, it’s twilight time
Out of the mist your voice is calling, it’s twilight time
When purple-colored curtains mark the end of day
I’ll hear you, my dear, at twilight time
Deepening shadows gather splendor as day is done
Fingers of night will soon surrender the setting sun
I count the moments darling till you’re here with me
Together at last at twilight time
Here, in the afterglow of day, we keep our rendezvous beneath the blue
Here in the same and sweet old way I fall in love again as I did then
Deep in the dark your kiss will thrill me like days of old
Lighting the spark of love that fills me with dreams untold
Each day I pray for evening just to be with you
Together at last at twilight time
Here, in the afterglow of day, we keep our rendezvous beneath the blue
Here in the sweet and same old way I fall in love again as I did then
Deep in the dark your kiss will thrill me like days of old
Lighting the spark of love that fills me with dreams untold
Each day I pray for evening just to be with you
