it’s Christmas Eve

and legions of hobgobblins
are ready to walk the winter darkness
looking for humbugs to hunt
and memories to haunt
Merry Christmas-or Happy Halloween
on this Spirit filled night
either greeting will do.
Just watched the Disney animation of Christmas Carol from 2009, probably the best film version of the story I’ve seen (apart from a couple of scenes whose purpose seems to be to lengthen the film). Your poem fits perfectly, with a lot of potential for development.
